Topacio, mintis sa target

PALEMBANG – Huli na nang kumamada si Hagen Topacio sapat para matapos sa ikaanim na puwesto sa trap event ng 18th Asian Games shooting championships nitong Lunes sa Jakabaring Sports City.

Nagmintis si Topacio, nagtapos na katabla sa ikapitong puwesto si Chinese-Taipei’s Yang Kungpi sa eliminatation na may 118 puntos, sa unang tatlong round dahil para masibak sa six-man finals na may iskor na 18 puntos mula sa 25 targets.

Ang masakit, umiskor ng 48 puntos para sa target na 50 si Topacio laban sa Taiwanese. 5-4, sa shoot-off para sa sixth place. Ang naturang iskor ay sapat para sana sa gold medal.

“I couldn’t get my proper rhythm in the first 10 shots and only found in my last 10 shots, so that’s the story of the finals,” sambit ni Topacio.

“I feel somewhat vindicated kasi nakapag-finals ako,” pahayag ng 2010 Guangzhou at 2014 Incheon editions campaigner.

Hindi naman sinisi ni Topacio ang kondisyon ng shooting range.

“The range is fantastic, the weather is fantastic. If we miss that is on us shooters,” aniya.

Maaga namang nasibak sina Jayson Valdez at Amparo Acuna sa men’s and women’s 10-meter air rifle event.

Matapos ang limang rounds, bagsak si Valdez sa 17th place sa 44 entries sa iskor na 618.6 puntos.

Nasa 40 puwesto naman ang 2017 Malaysia Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist na si Acuna tangan ang iskor na 603.7 puntos.
