Andrea, napinsala ang spine sa power lifting
TUWANG-TUWA ang Kapuso viewers sa role ni
Andrea Torres sa Victor Magtanggol bilang ang diyosang si Sif, dahil hindi lang siya pa-sexy, may mga action scenes din siya. Nag-e-enjoy ang mga bata kapag nakikipaglaban si Sif gamit ang kanyang golden hair at lumilipad.
Pero, kung hindi naagapan ang spine ni Andrea, baka hindi na niya nagagawa ang action scenes niya ngayon sa Victor Magtanggolo, o baka tumigil na siya sa pag-aartista.
Dati na palang na-injure ang spine ni Andrea. May post siya kamakailan tungkol dito, at dahil mahaba, pinili na lang namin ang mas importanteng bahagi.
“Two years ago I was faced with one of the most difficult setbacks of my life. At the gym, I was lifting my heaviest... more than my weight. I felt on top of the world successfully doing back-to-back squats, dead lifts & bench presses. I received so much compliments for my form, so much that I was offered to compete. I fell in love with power lifting & I was already seriously considering competing.
“Eventually, I was given the go signal to continue training alone. Everything was fine. I was even levelling up. Those little achievements every day gave me so much fulfilment that I forgot to listen to the reminders of the people around me & most especially, listen to my body.
“I was doing a soap that time & lacked sleep but I didn’t slow down. Then the unthinkable happened. I injured my spine—real bad. You can just imagine how devastated I was. All of a sudden, I—who was so in control of my body—felt so lost. Nothing seemed to work anymore & I had no idea where to start. There were so many restrictions. I thought I’d never be able to go back to my active lifestyle again.”
Binanggit ni Andrea si Coach Chloe, na isa ring physical therapist, ang tumulong sa kanya to modify her exercises, little by little, hanggang sa gumaling ang spine niya. Ngayon, balik na si Andrea sa pagwo-workout.
“I’m happy to be back! I can lift again! It may not be as extreme as before but just holding a bar again is a big deal for me,” pagtatapos ni Andrea.
