54 nahukay sa Cebu landslide
Umabot na sa 54 ang bilang ng mga nasawi sa landslide sa Naga City, Cebu, ayon Central Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CentCom, AFP).
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng CentCom na tatlong araw matapos ipakalat ang karagdagang tropa para sa rescue mission at karagdagang rescue volunteers, ang kabuuang bilang ng mga narekober na nawawala ay tumaas mula sa 29 nitong Sabado ay naging 54 nitong Lunes.
Ayon kay Captain Dave Anthony Pajel ng Army's 53rd Engineer Brigade, na namumuno sa isang rescue team sa lugar, nagpakita ng determinasyon ang mga rescuers na marekober ang iba pang biktima.
“We have been very determined and focused to ensure fast recovery of the victims of this catastrophe. There are moments when we forget to take our meal just to ensure we never miss any opportunity to recover hopefully, any survivors who might just be waiting for our response," ayon kay Pajel.
Samantala, nais ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) na i-review ang operasyon sa quarry sites sa Western Visayas.
"I want careful assessment and validation of the quarry sites to prevent major landslide or erosion incidents," pahayag ni DENR-6 Regional Director Jim Sampulna.
Ito ay kahit hindi kasama ang Western Visayas sa moratorium order ni DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu. Simula nitong Setyembre 21, pansamantalang ipinatigil ang quarrying sa Ilocos, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, at Caraga.
