Zagklis, bagong FIBA Sec-Gen

NAPAGKASUNDUAN ng mayorya ng mga miyembro ng International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Central Bitong Biyernes.

Kasalukuyang Director for Legal Services and General Counsel,si Zagklis ay kinuha ng FIBA noong 2016 mula sa siyam na taong pagiging external legal advisor.

Ang kanyang panunungkulan bilang Sec-Gen ay nagsimula na kahaponDisyembre 8.

Isang Greek national, ang 38-anyos na si Zagklis, ay aktibo sa basketball sa loob ng mahigit 20 taon.

“I’m very pleased that we have chosen our fourth Secretary General from among our own management team. A true basketball person, Andreas knows very well our organization and he is the right person to lead FIBA following the strategy adopted by the FIBA Congress. We are all convinced that he will put all efforts in making basketball the most popular sports community in the world, FIBA’s vision,” pahayag ni FIBA President Horacio Muratore

“I would like to thank the Central Board members for the trust bestowed in me. The mission is clear, to grow our sport throughout the world and unite the basketball community. I will serve it mindful of FIBA’s values and rich history. FIBA will continue to work hand in hand with its national member federations on male and female programs in its two Olympic disciplines as well as support wheelchair basketball. In today’s competitive environment, we shall be modern administrators, prudent regulators and excellent event organisers in order to meet the high expectations,” ayon naman kay Zagklis.

Pinalitan ni Zagklis bilang Secretary General ang pumanaw na si Patrick Baumann Natanggap ni Zagklis ang kanyang under- and postgraduate degrees mula sa Law School of the University of Athens habang kinumpleto nya postgraduate program sa Olympic Studies sa International Olympic Academy. Nagtapos din sya ng Leadership in Corporate Counsel program sa Harvard Law School (USA).

Sa kanyang professional career, si Zagklis ay tumayong adviser ng basketball players, coaches at clubs at naging assistant to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) sa tatlong Olympic Games (2004, 2006, 2008).

Nanungkulan din siya bilang FIBA Legal Department chief at naging instrumental sa pag-angat ng Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT).
