Japan, nagkaloob ng R210-M bomb suits

Nagkaloob ang Japanese government ng P210 milyong halaga ng bomb suits at iba pang gamit sa Philippine National Police (PNP) bilang bahagi ng pagsisikap nitong palakasin ang paglaban sa terorismo at krimen.

Dumating ang donasyon ilang araw matapos ang pambobomba sa Jolo Cathedral sa Sulu na ikinamatay ng 23 katao at ikinasugat ng halos 100 nagsisimba at mga miyembro ng security forces.

Sinabi ni Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda na layunin ng donasyon na palakasin hindi lamang ang kakayahan ng gobyenro ng Pilipinas sa pagtugon sa terorismo kundi maging ang iba pang law enforcement functions lalo na ang agresibong kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga.

“Amid the challenges of violent extremism in the region, it is crucial now more and ever that Japan and the Philippines work together to improve capabilities, keeping in mind that the safety of our people is of paramount importance,” sinabi ni Haneda sa kanyang talumpati sa ceremonial turnover.

Ang donasyon ay kinabibilangan ng anim na units ng bomb suits, anim na units ng ballistic shields at 440 units ng ballistic helmets.

Sinabi ni PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde na ang bomb suits ay ibibigay sa Firearms and Explosives units habang ang ballistic shields at helmets ay ipamamahagi sa units na nasa frontlines ng mga operasyon laban sa criminal elements at insurgents.

“We are truly grateful that the partnership of the two nations, Japan and the Philippines, have been continuously strengthened and further enriched to different programs such as grant aids for economic and social development programs in which donations are part of,” sinabi ni Albayalde.
