Agcaoili, papayagang umuwi para sa peace talks

Ligtas na makakabalik sa bansa si National Democratic Front (NDF) chief negotiator Fidel Agcaoili para sa posibleng peace negotiations sa gobyerno, sinabi ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Inihayag ng Pangulo na inatasan niya ang mga puwersa ng pamahalaan na hayaang makabalik sa bansa si Agcaoli, idiniin na “I am not that cruel.”

“I think Atty. Agcaoili has sounded off -- he was coming again to talk and I told the military and the police just allow him. For after all it’s just on a --- we’re on a waiting period about the appropriate time to talk about peace. I am not that cruel,” sinabi ng Pangulo, sa ika-9 na anibersaryo ng Mindanao Development Authority sa Davao City.

Nagpahayag ng interes ang Pangulo na ipagpatuloy ang peace talks sa mga komunistang rebelde sa kanyang talumpati. Nilinaw niya na hind siya galit kay communist leader Jose Maria Sison, at maaari pa rin silang maging magkaibigan.

“I am not saying that I am now in agreement with Sison. I don’t like his style but I do not hate him. We are friends and we can be friends,” aniya.

Ayon sa Pangulo, hindi dapat magbigay ng mga demand ang magkabilang panig at sa halip ay magusap na lamang para sa kapayapaan.

“I suggest that we do not make any demands. We go to the table and to talk about it. And if he approaches something which is not acceptable and I would say, ‘No, I cannot accept that,’” aniya.

Sa isang kalatas, sinabi kahapon ni Sison na tinatanggap niya ang mga positibong pahayag ng Pangulo na maging bukas sa peace negotiations at payagang makauwi si Agcaoili.

“I prefer to welcome the positive content and serious expressions about being open to peace negotiations and to let NDFP chief peace negotiator sort out Duterte’s statements with GRP chief peace negotiator DoLE Silvestre Bello III,” ani Sison
