‘Kasal para sa babae at lalaki lang!’

Sinasalamin man ng mga survey ang sentimiyento ng mamamayan, sinabi ng isang opisyal ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines na hindi naman nito sinasalamin ang katotohanan.

Ito ang reaksiyon ni Father Jerome Secillano, executive secretary ng CBCP Public Affairs Committee, sa online survey ng House of Representatives sa same sex union.

“Surveys do not reflect the truth. They merely gauge the sentiment of the people,” aniya sa isang panayam.

“So, even if majority of Filipinos favor same sex union and call it by any other name such as civil partnership, the truth is such union is still called marriage,” dagdag ni Secillano.

Idiniin ng opisyal ng CBCP na ang kasal ay dapat na para lamang sa pagitan ng isang lalaki at isang babae alinsunod sa Konstitusyon, Family Code, at sa itinadhana ng Diyos.

Sa nakalipas, tinutulan ng mga paring Katoliko ang anumang plano na gawing legal ang same sex marriage sa bansa kahit para sa civil union.

Iginigiit ng mga lider ng Simbahan na ang kasal ay dapat na sa pagitan lamang ng lalaki at babae.

“Marriage as willed by God is between a man and a woman,” ani Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco sa naunang panayam.

Sinabi ni noo’y Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles na ang same sex marriage ay hindi lamang labag sa Divine Law, kundi ito ay taliwas sa human at Natural law.

“The purpose of marriage is to have a family, kids...but if the couple is of the same sex the one who will suffer the most in this situation is their child because it’s not normal,” aniya.

“In the eyes of God, a married couple is a man and a woman,” dugtong ni Arguelles.
