Duterte, hinihintay ang paliwanag ng NPA

Sinabi ng Malacañang na magpapatuloy ang unilateral ceasefire ng gobyerno sa Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s ArmyNational Democratic Front (CPP-NPANDF) sa kabila ng mga pag-atake sa Camarines Sur at Iloilo nitong Disyembre 23, sinabing binibigyan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ng pagkakataon ang mga komunista na magpaliwanag kung bakit sumira sila sa kanilang sariling ceasefire sa unang araw ng truce.

Ito ang ipinahayag ni Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo kasunod ng mga pananambang ng mga diumano’y miyembro ng NPA sa Camarines Sur at Iloilo na ikinasawi ng isang sundalo at ikinasugat ng walong iba pa.

Sa press briefing kahapon, sinabi ni Panelo na kinokondena ng Palasyo ang paglabag sa truce. Gayunman, handa ang Pangulo na bigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga rebelde na ipaliwanag ang kanilang ginawa.

“We condemn, of course, the violation of the ceasefire agreement. You must remember that it was them who declared a unilateral ceasefire and that has also been violated,” aniya.

“Nevertheless, we are giving them the chance to explain why it has committed such violation. And since the President has always been open, giving a little window in the pursuit of peace, he will wait for the explanation coming from them,” dagdag niya.

“He’s (President Duterte) waiting for the report and for the explanation why they made the attack. But what is really clear is the President really wants peace among Filipinos,” pagpapatuloy niya.

Samantala, sinabi ni Panelo na nais ni Duterte na umuwi ng Pilipinas si CPP founder Joma Sison upang makapagusap sila nang harapan bago ang muling pagpapatuloy ng peace talks.

“The President is daring him to come home to the Philippines and have one-onone talk with the President even when there’s no government panel involved, no panel on the communist side,” aniya.

Aniya, walang hinihiling na anumang kondisyon si Duterte dahil ang mahalaga ay ang bumalik sa Pilipinas si Sison at makapag-usap sila.

“Wala siyang sinabing condition basta ang sinabi niya ‘I want to talk to him one-on-one here,’” ani Panelo.

“The stand of the President, he either takes it or leaves it,” dagdag niya.
