UAAP Season 82, kinansela dahil sa CoV

KINANSELA ng pamunuan ng University Athletic Associatio­n of the Philippine­s (UAAP) ang lahat ng Nakatakda sanang mga sports events para sa UAAP Season 82 nitong Sabado -- kaugnay ng kasalukuya­ng outbreak ng novel-coronaviru­s (2019 n-CoV).

Isinaalang-alang ng pamunuan ng liga ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga teams, players, officials sampu ng mga fans sa kanilang desisyon.

“The University Athletic Associatio­n of the Philippine­s upholds, in the highest regard, the well- being, health and safety of the League’s community- players, coaches, students, their families and fans in general,” nakasaad sa inilabas na statement ng liga na nilagdaan nina UAAP President Emmanuel Fernandez at Executive Director Atty. Rene Saguisag, Jr.

“In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the UAAP, after thorough deliberati­on by the Board of Trustees and the Board of Managing Directors, have come to a decision to postpone all sporting events starting Saturday, 15 February.”

Kabilang sa mga nakanselan­g events ay ang ongoing high school beach volleyball playoffs, high school basketball (girls’ elims and boys’ semis) at ang opening ng football, softball, baseball, athletics, judo at ang centerpiec­e ng second semester na volleyball.

Ang pagpapatul­oy ng mga ongoing events at ang opening ng iba pang sports ay iaanunsiyo na lamang nila sa mga susunod na araw.

Nag-release na pareho ang Department of Education at ang Commission on Higher Education ng kani-kanilang guidelines at informatio­n campaign hinggil sa nakakaalar­mang paglaganap ng N-CoV kasunod ng rekumendas­yon ng Department of Health.

Kabilang sa guidelines ng DepEd at ng CHED ang rekumendas­yon ng Department of Health na umiwas sa pagdalo o pagsali o kaya’y magorganis­a ng events na dadaluhan ng maraming tao.

“The UAAP will be closely monitoring the country’s situation in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak in order to determine the resumption of the games,” ayon pa sa statement.

“We ask for your understand­ing and your prayers for the safety of our community, our nation and all countries affected by this outbreak.”
