Town councilor nabbed in anti-drug raids
AUTHORITIES arrested a town councilor while a newly-elected barangay kagawad and his wife eluded arrest in separate anti-drug operations Wednesday, in Balabagan, Lanao del Sur, the military said.
Councilor Abedin Disalongan, was arrested when operatives found suspected shabu and various firearms at his home, around 5 a.m., said Capt. Arvin Encinas, Army 6th Infantry Division spokesman.
Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, PNP Special Action Force, and Army 6th Infantry Battalion raided the
official's home via a search warrant, he said.
Seized f rom the house were 50 grams of suspected shabu, an M16 rifle, two caliber.9mm pistols, and a Toyota Hilux.
Troops also raided newly-elected barangay kagawad Billy Jack Ogca's home in Brgy. Banago and found suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia, but he and his wife Mayleen Biruar escaped, Encinas said.
Seized from the house were sachets with 60 grams of suspected shabu, a digital weighing scale, and several bank documents, he said.
Ogca and Biruar "were able to elude arrest... when they sensed the arresting team," Encinas said.
Disalongan and the confiscated items are now under the custody of PDEA.
Charges of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Law, are set to be filed against the suspects, Encinas said.—
