Principal hurt in gun attack

A high school principal was wounded when an unidentified men shot him in North Cotabato, early Thursday.

Ritchel Parreño, principal of a high school in Brgy. Bulol, suffered bullet wounds to the right arm, said Supt.

Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato provincial police spokesman.

The incident occurred along the irrigation canal in Sitio Saranay, Brgy. Takepan, around 7:20 a.m.

Parreño, a resident of that barangay, was riding a motorcycle towards Brgy. Silik, when one of two men standing beside the canal shot him, Tayong said.

Parreño fell down from his motorcycle, but managed to run and seek help from the nearest house, he said.

The gunmen quickly escaped towards the Na t i o n a l Hi g hw ay, aboard a red motorcycle.

Investigators found a caliber-45 empty shell at the crime scene, and are looking at personal grudge as a possible motive for the attack, Tayong said.
