Alab Pilipinas begins title defense in ABL
DEFENDING ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) champion San MiguelAlab Pilipinas starts its title defense today at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Sta. Rosa, Laguna against the CLS Knights of Indonesia.
Fil-Am Caelan Tiongson, who played for Chong Son Kung Fu last season, and new import PJ Ramos will make their Alab debut alongside back-to-back ABL Local MVP Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Renaldo Balkman.
The addition of Tiongson solidifies the frontcourt of Alab as he averaged 11.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while suiting up for Chong Son Kung Fu. The 6-foot-5 forward is expected to ably fill in the shoes left behind by doit-all World Import Justin Brownlee.
Aside from Tiongson, Alab’s other new players to look out for in the squad’s title defense are former Green Archers Prince Rivero and Thomas Torres, Ethan Alvano, and Brandon Rosser, brother of PBA cager Matt Ganuelas-Rosser.
The CLS Knights, on the other hand, will be looking to halt their twogame skid after winning their opening game and spoil the debut of Alab.
