NORTH COTABATO 2 BIFF men yield

TWO members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendere­d to government forces in Kabacan, North Cotabato, bringing along high-powered firearms, the military said.

The two were identified as Adam Jakaria and Teng Palot, both residents of Pikit and members of the BIFF’s “Karialan faction” under Gani Saligan and Commander Nao, said Maj. Arvin Encinas, Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command spokesman.

Jakaria and Palot surrendere­d to the Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion and Pikit Mayor Sumulong Sultan at the battalion headquarte­rs in Brgy. Lower Paatan, Monday afternoon.

They brought with them a Noveske N4 Carbine rifle, an M79 grenade launcher, ammunition, and magazines. – John Roson

MAGUINDANA­O wanted’ killed

ONE of the most wanted men in Maguindana­o was killed when he shot it out with soldiers and policemen who were about to arrest him in Datu Odin Sinsuat town, the military said.

Killed was Ebrahim Mudzol Ali alias “Dalupang,” who had been involved in carnapping­s and killings, said Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Armed Forces Joint Task Force-Central commander.

Members of the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion and PNP Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group carried out the operation against Ali in Sitio Kiniputan, Brgy. Poblacion Dalican, on Monday afternoon.

While approachin­g the area, the operating troops were fired upon by the suspect, forcing them to retaliate, Carreon said.

Seized from the suspect was a caliber-.45 pistol with a magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition. – John Roson
