KON mahinayon man gayod pagkaabsuwelto sila si Peter Lim ug si Kerwin Espinosa sa ilang kasong may kalambigitan sa ilegal nga droga, nanganti si Presidente Rodrigo Duterte nga iyang ipuli sulod sa presohan si Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.

Tungod niini, nagtukod ang Department of Justice (DOJ) og usa ka panel nga motuki sa pagbasura sa mga kasong may kalabotan sa ilegal nga droga nga giduso sa Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) batok kanila ni Lim, Espinosa, ug uban pa.

Nahibulong kaayo si Duterte nganong gi- dismiss ang mga kaso nga unta mismo si Espinosa miangkon man sa usa ka congressional hearing nga usa siya ka drug distributor.

“Nag-amin na nga sa Congress. Why not admit it as evidence against him?” matod ni Duterte.

Sa pagsulat niini, miingon si Aguirre nga ang pag-absuwelto sa mga kaso wala pa mahuman tungod kay usisahon pa sa review panel ang motion for reconsideration nga gilaomang ipagawas sa PNP-CIDG.

“The current status of the case against respondents Peter Lim et al does not mean that it is a final exoneration of their respective criminal liabilities. Under our present procedure in the DOJ, there are possible avenues to review this case, whether by a motion for reconsideration or, ultimately, by way of automatic review by my

office,” ni Aguirre.

Midugang si Aguirre nga ang pagkaabsuwelto nila ni Lim ug Espinosa dunay epekto sa kampanya sa kagamhanan batok sa ginadiling droga.

“This dismissal is a slight bump in the war against drugs. It is likewise a wake-up call to all concerned that our efforts, from apprehension to resolution to conviction, must be concerted and thorough,” matod ni Aguirre.

Una niini, miingon si Roque nga nabalaka ang Malacañang sa pagbalewala sa mga kaso pero gipaneguro niya sa publiko nga dili pa paynal ang maong desisyon.

“We would like to assure the public that the dismissal is far from being final,” pahayag sa tigpamaba sa presidente.

Mipasabot usab si Roque nga ang dismissal sa mga kaso batok sa nahinganlang mga drug suspect dili makaapekto sa kaso ni Sen. Leila De Lima.

“The basis of the case filed against Leila de Lima is different... In (the case of Lim and Espinosa), the DOJ said there is no probable cause. But in the case of Leila de Lima, the (regional trial court) is not the only one that declared that there is probable cause. Even the judiciary said there is probable cause,” nagkanayon si Roque.— TNB
