8 airport projects up for bidding by end- Sept.

THE GOVERNMENT has set the bidding date for eight regional airport projects, worth a cumulative P241.23 million, by the end of September.

In an invitation to bid published in a newspaper yesterday, the Transporta­tion department said the projects include a P57.75million deal for the asphalt overlay of runway and taxiway and apron reblocking at the Dumaguete Airport in Negros Oriental; P75.73million contract for the asphalt overway of runway and taxiway at the Virac Airport in Catanduane­s; P9.41 million for the constructi­on of apron and shoulder grade correction at the Calayan Airport in Cagayan; and P7.21 million for the completion of taxiway and apron of Palanan Airport in Isabela.

The invitation also covers runway concreting and shoulder grade correction of the Bantayan Airport in Cebu for P9.39 million; expansion of apron, constructi­on of headwall and additional taxiway at the Catarman Airport in Northern Samar for P20.51 million; removal of obstacle at the Maasin Airport in Barangay Panan-Awan for P15.61 million; and concrete widening of runway and shoulder grade correction at Surigao Airport for P45.63 million.

“It is the responsibi­lity of the prospectiv­e bidders to determine the general characteri­stics and conditions of the projects and examine the technical specificat­ions/ terms of reference and project requiremen­ts in the bidding documents,” the Transporta­tion department said.

Submission and opening of bids for the Dumaguete, Virac, Calayan, Palanan and Surigao hubs will be on Sept. 25; those for Bantayan will be on Sept. 29; and those for Catarman and Maasin will be on Sept. 30.

“Prospectiv­e bidders must have an experience of having completed at least one contract that is similar to the contract to be bid, and the value of which... must be at least 50% of the approved budget for the contract, and have key personnel and equipment available...,” the agency said.

The bidding is restricted to organizati­ons that are at least 75% owned by Filipinos.
