Zomato acquires ‘small’ stake in Quick Delivery
RESTAURANT SEARCH platform Zomato said it has launched its own online ordering service in Manila, after it acquired a “small strategic stake” in leading delivery provider Quick Delivery.
“The delivery market in the Philippines has the potential to be one of the largest in Asia… With this partnership [with Quick Delivery], we believe we will create real value and bring a smoother, more enjoyable ordering experience to our customers. This will also enable restaurants to cater to a vast base of engaged users in a seamless way,” Pankaj Chaddah, Zomato co-founder, was quoted in a statement as saying.
Zomato last year launched online ordering services in India, and has expanded operations to 10 cities, and to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The company said it expects to make a strong entry in the food delivery market, leveraging on Quick Delivery’s leadership position in the corporate segment, agreements with over 1,200 restaurants and a loyal customer base.
“Zomato launching its online ordering services in the Philippines is a breath of fresh air for us. The fact that they have partnered with Quick Delivery is even better. We look forward to working together with them to set the standard for delivery service in the country,” Eugenio Gonzalez, Quick Delivery founder, was quoted in the same statement as saying. —
