AZ Reid, the multiple Best Import awardee, is expected to miss San Miguel Beer’s scheduled match against Alaska in the main game of the PBA Governors Cup Wednesday night.

The hardworking reinforcement is on a day-to-day status after suffering from a an Achilles heel injury, which bothered him during the Beermen’s loss to the GlobalPort Batang Pier last Friday night.

Reid admitted the injury has been nagging him and hinted that if his condition worsens, he would opt to sit out.

“If I continue to play like this, I might be able to sit out. Injuries are part of basketball,” said Reid in an interview with a small group of sportswriters.

A source privy to the condition of Reid told that the import’s Achilles heel is still swelling, forcing him to sit out in the practices.

“He’s there at practice, but is not fit enough to join the scrimmages,” said the source who requested anonymity.

The same source added that since the Beermen is going to miss Reid in their game against the Aces and they cannot play all-Filipino in their next game as per league rules. A team playing without an import will be fined P50,000 by the PBA.

“There’s a fine and we’re aware of that. So the next question is, are we bringing in a temporary replacement for AZ? We’re considering that. We’re also looking at his condition if he’ll be ready to play the next game. But only AZ Reid could answer that. It’s his body,” added the source.
