A big thank you from J.VAZ.CO on its seventh year
Evaristo «Junjie» Vazquez, Jr. hails from the Vazquez clan that established, built, and grew the business of gravel and sand since the 1950s and is a pillar in the construction industry. Junjie had been working for his family›s various businesses since his teenage years until recently. While his contemporaries are preparing for retirement in their 60s, Junjie ventured on his own and started his company, J.VAZ.CO, Inc. in 2010. J. VAZ.CO pioneered the Concrete Polishing System in the Philippines.
Despite leading various family businesses to greater heights for four decades, starting his own business didn›t come easy. Introducing Polished Concrete was met with resistance at first. It took a lot of effort to convince clients to shift to what is now the global standard for concrete floors, thanks to good relationships he has built with his previous clients over the years, especially with EEI Corporation, which supported him to start his first-ever project in this new endeavor. From then on, projects kept on growing, coming from warehouses, cold storage, home depot, super stores, chapels, universities, and schools.
Likewise, he is really grateful to his friends in the industry, the architects and contractors who have helped him, in one way or another, to promote and introduce the J.VAZ.CO Concrete Polishing System in their projects and to their clients.
Choosing the right business partners and the right products were among the challenges that he had to face, especially in the first couple of years until 2012, when he met the owner of Convergent, who has a story similar to his. Convergent Concrete Technologies, LLC pioneered the lithium-hardener business in the USA, which transformed the hardener industry landscape from sodium to lithium based products, which are far more effective and superior than those being used in the US for decades.
Looking back, Junjie says, «It›s quite a delight to see how we have grown over the past six years. It›s hard to imagine, when we dared to start in 2010 when polished concrete was unknown to many, that now, we are the top option for so many top clients.”
But what makes him more grateful is seeing how he was able to provide jobs for many. He shares his humble beginnings, when they were just three people in the company, and he was the one who operated the grinding and polishing machines. And now, J.VAZ.CO’s partners and workers have grown in number. And not only that, he is happy that in his own little way, he was able to provide employment not only within his own company, but also to those who followed suit and started their own polishing business and provided jobs to hundreds more.
And to this he adds, “This is what motivates me to keep on going, to continue moving forward and looking for more avenues to grow. As we start our seventh year, we are introducing more products and services, expanding to after-sale maintenance service; pre-polishing floor preparation and floor coating removal; terrazzo, concrete staining, textured paint, photocatalyst, among others.”
With his son, Dino, by his side, Junjie also looks forward to the valuable contributions and innovations of the new generation of J.VAZ.CO, even as he continues to share his vision for the company: «I want to make J.VAZ. CO the top choice in creating concrete solutions, by offering the best innovative products and service options to our customers, and continuously providing our team training and development to give our customers the highest standard of quality in everything that we do.”
