DoH calls on government offices to impose smoking ban

THE DEPARTMENT of Health (DoH) regional office urged all government offices located in the city to impose a total smoking ban in their buildings DoH-10 Spokesperson Nur-Aian R. Caridad made the call Friday as the Graphic Health Warning Law took into full effect. The offices of the Department of Budget and Management and the Land Transportation Office here have the DoH Red Orchid Award, which recognizes 100% tobacco-free environments. The city also enacted a local ordinance in the 1990s banning smoking in public places, but with specific emphasis within public transportation. —
