Marco Polo Ortigas Manila welcomes the Chinese New Year with a set of worthwhile activities and dining options that guests are sure to enjoy.

On Jan. 27, a New Year’s Eve celebratio­n will take place at its Grand Ballroom where live entertainm­ent and calligraph­y making will be offered. Feng shui cures and enhancers will be made available for display and selling as well.

Renowned feng shui expert Marites Allen will be present on Jan. 28 to share her complete forecast for the Year of the Fire Rooster. The long-standing tradition of dragon dance performanc­e, widely considered to deliver good luck, will also be staged.

Executive Chinese chef, Raymond Yeung, will combine traditiona­l and modern culinary techniques in his Yin and Yang set menus for lunch, which can be savored at the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, Lung Hin.

Also available in Lung Hin from Jan. 10 to 31 are symbolic glutinous rice cakes presented in round cakes with yam and brown sugar flavors for P988, and special Koi-shaped coconut flavor for P1,188; and on Jan. 15 to 31 are delectable Golden Pineapple Pastry that comes in a box of eight for P888.

The Manila Hotel invites everyone to partake in its festive events and gastronomi­c delights especially prepared for the Chinese New Year.

A colorful lion and dragon dance and an eye-dotting ceremony to be held at the hotel’s Fiesta Pavilion on Jan. 27 will definitely leave customers in awe. Completing the revelry will be a lauriat dinner with special dishes by Chef Sun Bing of the Mabuhay Palace.

Feng shui master Joseph Chau Kam Shing and his son Vittorio Chau will share their prediction­s for the year and will do a special blessing of prosperity, good health, and long life. Tickets are priced at P3,888 per person.

The Manila Hotel also offers the “Meet the Rooster” package inclusive of an overnight stay at the Grand Dame in one of its Superior Deluxe rooms during the Chinese New Year’s eve. The most important festival in Chinese lunar calendar will surely be a lot of fun with Pan Pacific Manila’s culinary offerings.

From Jan. 23 to 28, Pacific Lounge will showcase the delightful flavors of a Chinese banquet to be prepared by guest Chef Taipei of China Place and Pan Pacific Manila’s seasoned chefs. Lunch and dinner buffets will be offered for P1,000 and P1,288, respective­ly, per person.

Aside from the abundant buffet selection, guests will be treated to a traditiona­l Chinese dragon dance to be performed at the lobby starting 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.

The Year of the Fire Rooster is set to be welcomed with the traditiona­l lion dance at Jinjiang Inn’s Ortigas and Makati branches on Jan. 28.
