Palace signs EO ordering implementation of dev’t plan
PRESIDENT Rodrigo R. Duterte has signed Executive Order (EO) No. 27 directing all government agencies to implement the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) and Public Investment Program (PIP) for the period of 2017-2022.
The PDP is the blueprint to increase the pace of economic growth while lifting more Filipinos out of poverty while PIP spells out priority projects and programs to support the PDP.
Signed by Mr. Duterte and Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea on June 1, EO 27 — a copy of which was given to reporters on Monday — ordered the “adoption” and “dissemination” of the PDP as well as to “undertake efforts leading to its full implementation.”
The new EO also directs all government agencies to “align” their budgetary and departmental programs with the strategies and activities identified in the economic blueprint.
Expected to be completed by July, the PIP, according to EO 27, must be updated “annually and simultaneously” with the preparations for the yearly national budget or as determined by National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
The NEDA secretariat is also mandated to “work together” with other agencies in enforcing and monitoring the implementation of both the PDP and PIP.
Meanwhile, government offices are likewise directed to submit to the NEDA board their accomplishment reports with respect to PDP and PIP.
PDP was approved by the NEDA board on Feb. 20, 2017 following a series of Cabinetlevel and technical interagency discussions. The blueprint was formally launched on June 2.
