Mapúa pi­o­neers tech sub­ject for se­nior high school stu­dents

MAPÚA Univer­sity Se­nior High School started im­ple­ment­ing the Con­nect­ing Things course, a sub­ject solely ded­i­cated to teach­ing the In­ter­net of Things (IoT) technology to its first batch of Grade 11 and Grade 12 stu­dents. A first in the coun­try, Mapúa SHS’s Con­nect­ing Things course is in­te­grated in the Cisco Net­work­ing Academy (NetA­cad) and of­fers a ba­sic un­der­stand­ing of how to net­work de­vices in a lo­cal area net­work (LAN) and con­nect them to the In­ter­net. It also pro­vides stu­dents an abil­ity to solve ba­sic al­go­rith­mic prob­lems us­ing a pro­gram­ming lan­guage, knowl­edge of ba­sic physics con­cepts, and a fa­mil­iar­ity with Cisco Packet Tracer. IoT is the in­ter-net­work­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tion of In­ter­neten­abled de­vices.
