Canyon Woods @ 20
It has been two decades since Canyon Woods opened its gates in the vibrant community of Tagaytay. At that time, it pioneered the “residential resort” concept in the Metro Tagaytay-Taal area. Established by Tagaytay Grassland Company, Inc. in 1993, Canyon Woods Residential Resort’s initial stages saw the development of a 35- hectare property.
Mr. George S. Go, Sr., Chairman of Canyon Woods Resort Club, recalls: “It was a God-given project. Canyon Woods was a joint venture between LandCo. and Tagaytay Grassland Company, Inc.”
In the early ‘90s, though, Tagaytay was not yet as highly developed as it is now. But Canyon Woods had a vision, and could see a promising future. Ms. Mary Norge Rosales-Dee, Vice President for Operations, shares: “It was destiny. Even at that time, there was a very good potential to build a high- end community in Tagaytay. The weather and slopes were perfect for relaxation and tranquility, with just an hour’s drive away from Metro Manila.”
Propelled by this dream, Canyon Woods engaged in vibrant and aggressive development through the years. 1994 – Canyon Woods Phase 1 Open Lots 1995 – Canyon Woods Phase 2 Open Lots 1995 – Canyon Homes (Batch 1) 1997 – Canyon Woods Resort Club 1998 – Pavilion Campsite 2000 – Lodging Units 2001 – Canyon Woods Phase 3A Open Lots

Last September 23, 2017, Canyon Woods celebrated its milestone 20th year through the 15th Chairman’s Cup Golf Tournament, the 15th Kiddie Club Anniversary, the 16th Anniversary of the Most Holy Names of the Child Jesus Chapel, and the 20th Anniversary Dinner Special, a formal affair that also featured a performance by renowned singer, Kuh Ledesma. BUILDING AND GROWING RESPONSIBLY As Canyon Woods continues to evolve into an even larger community, it has provided local employment and livelihood for the nearby barangay. This project has also increased the real estate value in the area. And Tagaytay’s local tourism received a welcome boost as visitors and guests flocked to the resort.
We are also committed to the environment by not cutting any tree in the property. In fact, even at the middle of the road, there is a tree.
Ever cognizant of its impact on the environment in this neck of the woods, the company shares its water supply and electricity with the neighboring community. In fact, if it weren’t for Canyon Woods, electricity would not have been installed in that area.
Canyon Woods is also committed to the sustainability of the resources within its area. That is why it has been fully compliant with the government’s regulations concerning the conservation and protection of the environment.
And while it safeguards its habitat, it also nurtures future generations by conducting yearly outreach projects for the children in the adjacent barangay. GROWING TOWARDS THE FUTURE Currently, Canyon Woods has expanded to over 280 hectares, with 150 hectares more for future expansion.
Mr. George L. Go, Jr. Vice President for Sales, elaborates: “The main focus of Canyon Woods right now is the completion of our newest hotel complex, Canyon Woods Residences. The new hotel is located in the best and highest location inside Canyon Woods, in the middle The Peak and our main clubhouse; it will give all hotel guests the best view of Taal lake and volcano. Once finished, our current hotel, The Peak, Canyon Woods Residences, and our main clubhouse will all be interconnected, making sure our guests are kept safe and dry from the weather and the elements. We also want to foster a sustainable type of living inside Canyon by offering our guests an all- natural, fresh, and pollution-free experience while on site.”
The new hotel, he continues, will also house the Grand Banquet Hall, which will have a maximum capacity of 750 individuals. This can host much larger corporate and social events compared to the old 300- person capacity main dining room.
With its interiors being designed by famous interior designer Rene Orosa, all the rooms will feature a balcony and the most nature- themed furniture available. All rooms will also be equipped with high speed Wi-Fi to suit every single traveler’s needs.
Canyon Woods Residences will also have an outdoor swimming pool lounge where guests can enjoy the cool Tagaytay breeze or take a dip in the infinity swimming pool while enjoying the Taal view.
Talks are also underway with several medical and education institutions to help promote healthcare and education in Canyon Woods. It hopes to have a fully functioning triage clinic on site and a major education campus.
“We do believe that the biggest asset of Canyon Woods is its tranquil and quiet setting,” Mr. George L. Go, Jr. remarks. “We have a warm and peaceful community here. And it feels quite like home.”
