40th APDC, 109th PDA annual convention set on May 7 to 11
ALL SYSTEMS go for the biggest dental event in the country with the joint holding of the 40th Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) and the Philippine Dental Association’s 109th Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting from May 7 to 11 at the SMX Convention Center, Seashell Drive, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
Dr. Fernando M. Fernandez, general chairman of the 40th APDC, said the congress’ theme is “Intensifying Professionalism in Synergy with Dental Science & Technology.” “Ethics & Professionalism play very important roles in the fast-changing world of dental technology and we would like to integrate these in the various lectures and researches of our speakers from various fields of dental practice to enable us to become better clinicians towards an improved dental practice.”
On the other hand, Dr. Arleen R. Reyes, PDA presidentelect and general chairman of the 109th PDA Annual Convention & Scientific Meeting, said this year’s PDA convention theme is “Driven for Excellence” which she said “appropriately describes how we as dental professionals, continually strive for excellence in whatever specialty we may be into as we acquire new learnings from renowned local & foreign speakers from every specialty field who will bring in their expertise through noteworthy lectures that are relevant and timely to our dental practice.”
The heart of the convention — the five-day scientific sessions — organized by the Specialty Affiliates of the PDA — will feature over 100 topics. Other highlights of the convention are the Opening Ceremonies, Welcome Reception, PDA President’s Night, APDC Delegates’ Meeting, APDC Commission Meeting, APDC Workshop, APDC Council Meeting, APDC Gala Night and E-posters presentation. A permanent fixture in the convention are the Trade Exhibits where there are more than 500 exhibitors showcasing the latest in the science and technology of Dentistry and addressing the dental professionals’ requirements.
There will be a pre-convention seminar on May 6 featuring two international experts. They are Dr. Joseph Choukroun who will tackle “Platelet Rich Fibrin: Improvements in soft & hard tissue surgeries (biological & pharmacological factors in Implantology)” and Prof. Juan Yepes who will tackle “Clinical Applications of Radiation Safety (Including CBCT)” and “Management of Orofacial Pain & Temporomandibular Joint Disorders” under the Primo Gonzales Memorial Lecture.
