ING, FINEX shine spotlight on CFO role
DUTCH FINANCIAL giant ING Bank and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) are shining the spotlight anew on one exemplary chief finance officer (CFO) in the ING FINEX CFO of the Year Award.
Now on its 12th year, the country’s longestrunning search for the most outstanding finance executive is open to companies (public or privately owned) operating in the Philippines and registered under Philippine laws. ING and FINEX recently opened the nomination period, which ends on Aug. 31, leading up to the award ceremony on Nov. 20.
In addition to being bestowed with the coveted title and receiving a glass trophy by award-winning glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, this year’s outstanding CFO will also join the elite rank of previous CFO awardees: Delfin Gonzalez Jr. (Globe Telecom, 2007), Sherisa Nuesa (Manila Water Corporation, 2008), Jose Sio (SM Investments Corporation, 2009), Ysmael Baysa (Jollibee Foods Corporation, 2010), Jaime Ysmael (Ayala Land, Inc., 2011), Jeffrey Lim (SM Prime Holdings, Inc., 2012), Felipe Yalong (GMA Network, Inc., 2013), Jose Jerome Pascual III (Shell Philippine Exploration, B.V., 2014), Danny Yu (Philex Mining Corporation, 2016), and Jose Teodoro K. Limcaoco (Ayala Corporation, 2017).
“We need CFOs who go beyond their traditional role as number cruncher, who are not afraid of market volatility, and take a long-term view of their organization and the economy. We need CFOs who demonstrate ethical leadership and business integrity. We need CFOs who care enough about the next generation. This is why we take great pains in screening and choosing the next CFO of the Year awardee,” said Hans B. Sicat, country manager of ING Bank, N.V., Manila Branch.
