Teleperformance bullish on PHL

TELEPERFORMANCE Philippines expects to continue its expansion in the country, amid strong demand from North America.

The company on Thursday launched its 19th site within Quezon City’s new business district. The new office covers nine floors of a building at Ayala Land, Inc.’s Vertis North development, and can accommodate up to 3,000 employees.

“We will continue to expand. We are very bullish in the Philippines in general. We will grow as the market demands,” Teleperformance Philippines Managing Director Travis Coates said in a press briefing.

He noted the company, which began operations in the Philippines in 1996, is now the second largest in the local business process outsourcing (BPO) industry.

“We have invested significant amount of money. We will continue to develop our people,” Mr. Coates said.

Meanwhile, Teleperformance Philippines Senior Vice President of the Human Capital Resource Management Jeffrey Johnson said he hopes the Philippine government will retain the tax benefits for the BPO sector in order to sustain the industry’s growth and generate more jobs.

“We hope that the incentives will continue to be there,” Mr. Johnson said, noting that the company intends to hire more Filipinos especially the fresh K-12 graduates.

Teleperformance currently has around 40,000 employees in business sites in Metro Manila, Antipolo, Baguio, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.

“The launch of Teleperformance Vertis North demonstrates our focus and commitment to continue growing the business here in the Philippines. Global technological advancements and disruptions can be managed and maximized through the real talent of the Filipino,” Mr. Coates said.

In 2017, Teleperformance has reported a consolidated revenue of $4.72 billion globally. It operates 171,000 computerized workstations, 223,000 employees, and 350 contact centers in 76 countries. —
