THIS YEAR, there is no bigger disruption than the COVID-19 pandemic. As we face a brave new world, one thing remains resolute: the quest for learning will always be stronger than any virus.

Rising to the challenge of the “New Normal,” the European Union Delegation to the Philippines together with the EU member states’ embassies and cultural institutes will be hosting the first-ever virtual European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) on Oct. 2 and 3, 2 p.m. to 8 pm. Interested parties can now register now via www.ehefphilippines.com.

With the theme “Study in Europe: The Future is EUrs,” EHEF 2020 proves that EU is more than ready to lead the future by embracing digital innovations in higher education. By staging the fair online, EHEF 2020 is now more accessible to Filipino students and members of the academe, especially those who are living outside Metro Manila.

With 92 participating universities and higher education institutions (HEIs), EHEF participants now have more opportunities to explore their chosen fields of study from the best universities and colleges from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Slovak Republic, Spain, and Sweden.

This year’s virtual fair will feature webinars on research programmes and mobility opportunities for students. Also lined up are the very popular country presentations and live chats with HEI representatives, alumni, and scholars.

Taking advantage of today’s technology, EHEF 2020 has also added virtual meeting rooms for Philippine higher education institutions (PHEIs) and their EU counterparts for linkages and collaboration opportunities. Blended and online learning will also be given special focus as most EHEIs are now offering post-graduate degrees through distance education programs.

EHEF 2020 also goes regional for the first time, and in real- time. Regional partner institutions, Ateneo de Manila University ( Manila), Wesleyan University ( Luzon), Silliman University ( Visayas), and Xavier University –Ateneo de Cagayan (Mindanao) will be co-hosting clustered presentations for interested students and educators alike.
