PHILIPPINES FALLS IN FOOD SECURITY RANKING
The Global Food Security Index (GFSI), developed by UK-based Economist Intelligence Unit with support from US-based Corteva Agriscience, looks at a country’s capacity to provide reliable access to sufficient, affordable, and nutritious food supply. The index looks at four categories in gauging food security: affordability; availability; quality and safety; and natural resources and resilience. The latest iteration of the report saw the Philippines’ food security score decline by 1.9 points to 55.7 in 2020, consequently slipping by three places to the 73rd spot out of 113 countries.
