PHILIPPINES THE 7TH LARGEST PROVIDER OF ‘ONLINE LABOR’

The Online Labor Index by Oxford Internet Institute looks at the supply and demand of online freelance labor across economies and occupations by tracking in real time* the number of projects across online platforms used by firms to find and hire workers on a project-, piece-rate, or hourly basis. Among nearly 200 countries in the index, the Philippines is the seventh-largest supplier of online labor as it accounted for around 2.63% of the workers observed worldwide**. By type of work, those in the creative and multimedia segment make up the largest group, accounting for 44.17% of online Filipino workers. Relative to the global total, Filipino workers in this segment make up around 1.16%.
