METRO MANILA RANKS NEAR BOTTOM OF URBAN MOBILITY READINESS RANKING
The Urban Mobility Readiness Index of the US-based management consulting firm Oliver Wyman Forum and the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Berkeley looks at 60 cities and assesses which “are ready to excel in meeting their future mobility challenges.” The index looks at 57 metrics grouped into the five dimensions** of infrastructure, social impact, market attractiveness, systems efficiency, and innovation. A sixth sub-index on Sustainable Mobility*** was added in the latest edition of the index to evaluate how well cities are “promoting green methods of transportation and ensuring their infrastructure is resilient to climate change. This year, Manila ranked 56th out of 60 cities and last among the 13 cities in the Asia-Pacific region.
