DoTr, MMDA holds 5-day mobile vaccination drive at PITX for commuters, transport workers

-

THE DEPARTMENT of Transportation (DoTr) in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is holding a mobile COVID-19 vaccination drive for commuters and transport workers at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) from Jan. 24 to 28.

Dubbed as the “We Vax as One: Mobile Vaccination Drive,” the five-day activity aims to give the AstraZeneca vaccine brand as first, second, or booster doses. Those receiving their booster shots will be given priority.

Transportation Secretary Art Tugade said the vaccination drive intends to give 500 vaccine doses per day.

“Mahalaga po para sa atin na masigurong bakunado ang ating mga bayaning transport workers, lalo na at iba’tibang lugar ang kanilang pinupuntahan, gayundin ang ibang stakeholders at mga commuters na kanilang nakakasalamuha sa arawaraw,” said Secretary Tugade.

Vaccinations at the PITX during the 5-day drive will be given from 8 a.m. until noon (12 p.m.) Those who want to be vaccinated are advised to proceed to Gate 4 at the PITX 2nd floor.

The vaccination drive is open for walk-in vaccinees with the registration to be done onsite.

To recall, the DoTr led a similar COVID-19 vaccination drive for transport workers for six consecutive weeks at the PITX that started on July 31, 2021.

Dubbed as “TsuperHero: Kasangga ng Resbakuna ”, last year’s vaccination drive was able to vaccinate public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, conductors, and other transport workers. Participating in the vaccination drive was the DoTr Road Transport Sector, the Department of Health (DoH), the Mega Manila Consortium Corporation (MMCC), the Parañaque City government, and the PITX.

For that event, the MMCC converted five buses of which three were used to inoculate at least 1,000 transport workers every Saturday to reach the minimum target of 6,000 vaccinees.

The Parañaque City government meanwhile provided the first batch of vaccines for the vaccination drive with the remaining vaccine doses needed being sourced from the national government, under the nationwide vaccination program.
