PSC INKS PARTNERSHIP WITH JUSTICE DEPARTMENT
THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in an effort to properly and fully exercise its mandate in both elite and grassroots sports, sealed an intergovernment collaboration with the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The partnership was sealed on Wednesday in a memorandum of agreement signed by PSC Chairman William Ramirez and Deputy Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr. and DOJ Assistant Secretary Margaret Castillo-Padilla, who represented Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
“I am very happy that this intergovernment collaboration with DOJ is finally happening,” said Ramirez after the MOA signing ceremony at the PSC offices inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
“The PSC wants to seek guidance and promote accountability and good governance among national sports associations, organizations and other stakeholders,” Ramirez added.
“The DOJ is here to help the PSC in enforcing their standing implementing rules and regulations and help on issues of mishandling financial assistance and on other matters, which may be consulted with them,” Castillo-Padilla said.
“For the past 28 years, this is the first time the PSC partnered with DOJ and we are hoping that this positive move will help create unity among us,” Iroy said.
The PSC will form a task force that will coordinate and work closely on standing cases and other conflicts that are referred by the PSC.
