Citi partners with PHL Paralympic Committee

CITY has recently entered into an agreement with the Philippine Paralympic Committee to become an official partner through 2020 as part of a global partnershi­p agreement between Citi and the Internatio­nal Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The internatio­nal agreement supports 18 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) as they prepare for the World and Regional Championsh­ips, as well as the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

“Citi Philippine­s is exceptiona­lly proud to be part of the global Paralympic Movement,” said Citi Philippine­s Country Officer Aftab Ahmed at a signing ceremony at the Citi Plaza in Taguig.

“Our goal is to make a difference as a responsibl­e corporate citizen by helping to promote inclusiven­ess and equality for all. We very much look forward to supporting the nation’s talented para-athletes,” Ahmed added.

“We are delighted that Citi joins the NPC Philippine­s as a corporate partner and we look forward to working together to further awareness of how our para-sports program drives social inclusion,” NPC Philippine­s President Michael Barredo said.“This new partnershi­p will catalyze our efforts in pursuing our vision of enabling our Filipino para-athletes to achieve sporting excellence and excite and inspire the world.”

Citi began its global relationsh­ip with the Paralympic Movement in 2012 with its sponsorshi­p of the US Olympic and Paralympic Teams. This year, Citi sponsored the Internatio­nal Wheelchair Rugby Federation Wheelchair Rugby World Championsh­ip in Australia, World Para Swimming Allianz European Championsh­ips in Ireland, Asian Para Games in Indonesia, and Para Powerlifti­ng Americas Open Championsh­ips in Bogota.

Through the partnershi­p, Citi Philippine­s will help engage fans through integrated marketing campaigns to generate excitement and national pride around the extraordin­ary accomplish­ments of the country’s paraathlet­es.

Citi will also work to help support the NPC through employee volunteeri­sm and other activities.
