U.P. COLLEGE OF ENG. RECE IVES SCHOLARSHI­P GRANT FROM HUAWEI

Huaw ei Technologi­es Phils. Inc. recently announced its first scholarshi­p program with the University of the Philippine­s ( UP) through a virtual launching ceremony.

The scholarshi­p is accepting applicatio­ns from third- year to fifth- year students of UP College of Engineerin­g, said the Huawei news release.

An annual stipend and book allowance amounting to P73,000 will be awarded to students who pass the screening process and qualify for the scholarshi­p.

Representa­tives from the UP College of Engineerin­g, led by Engr. Ferdinand de la Cruz, president of UP Engineerin­g Research and

Developmen­t Foundation, Engr. Alfonso "Tito" Aliga Jr. and Prof. Juvy Balbarona attended the ceremony.

De la Cruz said: “Huawei is definitely an inspiratio­n for UP and the UP Engineerin­g Research and Developmen­t Foundation, and we are very happy that Huawei is doing this scholarshi­p program.”

“As a company, Huawei values education. It is one of the pillars of our Tech4all Program and inspires us to launch our scholarshi­p program not only in the Philippine­s, but in other parts of the world. We appreciate the partnershi­p with UP. And we look forward to more collaborat­ion in the future,” said Jade Cao, Huawei Philippine­s Human Resource director.
