44 complete Tesda-angkas motor rider’s training course
ON cue with the rise in demand for twowheel-taxi drivers and the easing of mobility curbs, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) as well as motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas have capacitated 44 trainees on basic motor driving.
They were taught under the Basic Motorcycle Driving Program—a five-day formal education designed to professionalize motorcycle training in the Philippines, which was launched by both partners on April 6.
The program’s traineegraduates were among 235 scholars upskilled by the Regional Training Center-national Capital Region (NCR) who graduated on June 6.
Students who completed other courses, such as Mechatronics Servicing National Certificate (NC) II, PV Systems Installation NC II, Ships Catering Services NC II, Agricultural Crops Production NC II. Visual Graphic Design NC II, and Trainers Methodology I joined them in the commencement exercises.
In his message, Secretary Isidro Lapeña congratulated the graduates and insisted that the training provided by Tesda will open a lot of opportunities to them.
“You will be able to help your families and, eventually, you can also help the nation to recover from the pandemic, as you all become productive,” he said.
During the ceremony, 13 trainers of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) from the NCR, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Regions 4A, 9, and 11 who were in the 11-day Daikin “Training of Trainers” program were also cited.
Their training forms part of the memorandum of agreement signed by Tesda and Daikin Philippines in July 2021 to upskill the entire local airconditioning sector.
“I hope…the knowledge you gained from this training will be your standard to efficiently and effectively perform your duties and responsibilities,” the Tesda chief said. “We know that through this training, you will be able to help upgrade the skills of our kababayans in the HVAC sector in your respective regions.”
Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Lina Sarmiento, Tesda-ncr Regional Director Florencio Sunico Jr., as well as Executive Directors Dave Bungallon and Lorenzo Emanuel Guillermo were also at the graduation ceremony.
