Makati mayor lauds city’s Top 10 students

TOP-PERFORMING students from Makati City were recognized by Mayor Abigail Binay, as they received prizes for their academic achievemen­ts.

The top-ranked learner received a cash prize worth P20,000 and a plaque of recognitio­n, while those in Top 2 to 10 got P15,000 each, as well as individual plaques.

This year’s awardees consisted of (1) Matthew Ivan Galvez of Makati Science High School (MSHS), (2) Jerome Samuel Tan of Makati Hope Christian School (MHCS), (3) Mikaella Caluag of Makati High School, (4) Leila Caudilla of San Antonio National High School, (5) Nisha Jai Collado of Bangkal High School, (6) Zach Anthony Ty also from MHCS, (7) Derron Noleal of St. Paul College-makati (Spc-makati), (8) Gerald Jerome Leviste of San Antonio National High School, (9) Raven Jillian Catuday of MSHS, and (10) Camille Danielle Lacanlalay, also from Spc-makati.

Galvez was likewise named the city’s new youth ambassador.

“I am extending my heartfelt congratula­tions to this year’s Ten Outstandin­g Students of Makati. This is a very momentous occasion, not just for our awardees, but also for the city…,” Binay said, as she congratula­ted the awardees on June 10 at an awarding ceremony inside the Makati City Hall. “Through your achievemen­ts, you have made us proud, and inspired all of us to do better.”

More important, the local chief executive said the awardees made her “proud to be a Makatizen.”

“You have shown excellence in academics, leadership, and service, [that is why] you deserve this recognitio­n. I am confident that you will continue to excel in all your pursuits, and contribute to the betterment of our city,” the mayor concluded.
