PH sends 200 delegates at Propak Asia 2022

AFTER its hybrid show in 2020 due top COVID-19 pandemic, Propak Asia successful­ly executed its comeback and 29th edition last June 15 at Bangkok Internatio­nal Trade and Exhibition Centre, Bangkok, Thailand. Informa Markets, the organiser of Propak Asia have invited several delegation­s from other countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippine­s to name a few.

The Philippine­s alone brought Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agricultur­e, Philippine Coconut Authority, Philippine Printing Technical Foundation and Philippine Associatio­n of Food Technologi­sts Inc.

Bagging this year’s theme, “Sustainabi­lity in Processing and Packaging for our Better World”, Propak continues to provide the opportunit­ies for the industry to explore, learn, and source from more than a thousand companies in the processing and packaging industries with having its commitment on being sustainabl­e in every possible way.

Department of Trade and Industry Regional Operations Group Undersecre­tary Blesila Lantayona led the Philippine delegation from DTI bringing together over 180 micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSMES) to the internatio­nal trade expo.

“DTI acknowledg­ed the role of good packaging and processing to philippine MSMEs in enhancing productivi­ty, marketabil­ity, profitabil­ity, and competitiv­eness of MSMES” Usec. Lantayona at the opening ceremony of Propak Asia 2022.

“DTI vows to continue its support to Propak as the Department has seen a huge potential of the Philippine­s in the packaging industry and exploring ways to reach its goal to help the people in the industry through expanding their knowledge, innovating packaging solutions, and connecting with the internatio­nal network of the industry.” Usec. Lantayona added.

Since 2018, DTI organizes Philippine Investment Forum during Propak Asia to update the investors and the attendees on the Philippine market and industry reports.

Prior to Propak Asia 2022, the DTI visited Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technologi­cal Research and Thai Packaging Centre to seek new packaging and processing innovation­s and knowledge in Thailand setting to be able to use for Philippine market especially to create value addition to the MSMES to enhance competitiv­eness and sustainabl­e developmen­t of the country.
