- Jonathan L. Mayuga

THIRTY-EIGHT agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBS) from Barangay Deungas, Surallah, South Cotabato recently completed a crash course to become “agri-preneurs” on agricultural entrepreneurship from the Farm Business School (FBS) of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Through the FBS, the farmers gained basic knowledge of agricultural business to make their products more profitable and marketable and how to properly manage their own agri-business.

H. Roldan A. Al, DAR Soccsksargen Assistant Regional Director said the FBS is in line with DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III’S directive to support the farmers’ livelihood activities and create for them alternative sources of income.

“You should apply the knowledge you acquired from FBS because this is the key to your goal of becoming a successful agricultural entrepreneurs. We look forward that your farms will become learning sites in this province,” he said to the graduates.

This is the 12th FBS site in the province of South Cotabato, which was launched last May 25, 2022, with the course running for almost four months.

Ellen Purisima, one of the FBS graduates said with 25 sessions, those who took the course gained more than new knowledge and but hope.

“We are confident that from the learnings we have gained on business planning, records keeping, savings mobilization and value-adding, we will succeed in our agricultural lives in the future,” she said.

Evangeline Bueno, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II encouraged the new graduates to put their learnings and start their own small businesses.
