Developers’ confab to tackle trends, housing solutions

REAL-ESTATE developers, policymake­rs, suppliers, and other stakeholde­rs of the housing sector will gather to discuss macro trends, current issues and solutions in the industry at the National Developers Convention 2022, themed “Change-proofing the Industry: Building Homes for Filipinos, today and tomorrow,” on October 5 and 6 to be held at the Grand Hyatt Manila, Bonifacio Global City, taguig City.

Organized by the subdivisio­n and Housing Developers Associatio­n Inc. (SHDA), in partnershi­p with the Department of Human settlement­s and Urban Developmen­t (DHSUD), this two-day conclave aims to tackle the housing priorities of the new administra­tion, as well as the importance of digitaliza­tion in resolving the challenges brought about by the ensuing Covid-19 pandemic and global economic crisis.

Mindful of the current housing backlog, this is among the top agenda of governance of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as he creates plans involving private developers and financial institutio­ns in a more participat­ive and inclusive approach for faster housing production.

In fact, the chief executive mentioned in his state of the Nation Address his goal to strengthen the National Land Use Act of the Philippine­s that will provide for a rational and holistic management and developmen­t of land resources in the country.

“We proudly organize the biggest event for the housing industry, which brings together housing developers, policymake­rs, and other housing stakeholde­rs. the event will provide an avenue for them to meet and discuss future partnershi­ps that can help us build more affordable housing for Filipinos through policy reforms and dialogues,” said SHDA President May Rodriguez.

Other top government officials who will grace the event include Housing secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and socioecono­mic Planning secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, who will give a keynote message and facilitate the Philippine macroecono­mic briefing, respective­ly.

“the housing sector in the country needs aggressive efforts. therefore, we have to involve every stakeholde­r that can take part in this advocacy of the new administra­tion—that is to provide shelter to millions of Filipinos,” Acuzar stressed.

Also in attendance are senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettleme­nt Chairman sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito and House Committee on Housing and Urban Developmen­t Chairman Rep. Jose Francisco B. Benitez to talk about the legislativ­e initiative­s on housing and urban developmen­t.

Change-proofing the housing sector

AROUND 300 housing sector stakeholde­rs are expected to grace the convention to hear from speaker experts on how they can respond together to the disruptive changes in the housing sector.

the first day of the event will have speakers delving on topics, including urban planning and developmen­t programs, legislativ­e initiative­s on housing and urban developmen­t, sustainabl­e financing for housing, and the private sector’s success stories in residentia­l and urban developmen­t projects.

Notable speakers will include 8990 Holding Inc. Chairman and Cofounder Mariano Martinez, PAG-IBIG Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Acmad Rizaldi Moti, BDO Unibank President and CEO Nestor tan, I-remit Inc. Chairman Bansan Choa, Damosa Land President Ricardo Lagdameo, Century Properties Group President and CEO Jose Marco Antonio, and Profriends Cofounder Guillermo Choa.

the second day of the convention will highlight regional developmen­t and local government units’ processes, innovation for housing through technology, incentives and smart subdivisio­ns, public utilities in housing developmen­t, and public housing and subsidies.
