SB19 shares takeaways from their first ever world tour, WYAT tour

- BY PATRICK V. MIGUEL

PRIOR to kicking off their WYAT tour last September at the Araneta Coliseum, SB19 admits to being nervous about leaving the country and performing abroad.

Pablo shared, “Before we started this tour, talagang sobrang kinakabahan kami [kasi] hindi namin alam kung may manonood ba sa’min sa mga cities or countries na pupuntahan namin.”

The P-pop group performed live in Dubai, New York City, Los Angeles, and Singapore, starting September and ending this November.

However, Pablo said that they trained hard for the world tour so they could offer great performances to their fans outside the country. Eventually, their anxieties were put to a halt as soon as they began performing in the tour.

“When we went to the countries or yung mga cities na pinuntahan po namin, sobrang nakaka-amaze and sobrang overwhelming nung feeling kasi di namin inakala na baliktad pala,” the SB19 leader said.

He added, “Yung takot pala namin papalitan ng saya kasi sobrang napuno, talagang sinuportahan ‘yung [concert] namin even though it’s our first time doing the world tour and we’re just really really happy and thankful sa lahat po ng mga sumuporta po sa amin sa show namin.”

Asked what their “secret weapon” was during the world tour, Josh reflects that all this time, it was their fanbase A’TIN who defined what a success their tour was. He said, “We could say in a way na A’TIN ‘yung

secret weapon namin, kumbaga sila po talaga yung naging dahilan kung bakit kami naging successful sa

world tour na ‘to.”

Josh said that the presence of A’TINS is enough to motivate them to perform. The lead rapper shared, “‘Yung presence lang nila okay na kami kasi nag che-cheer po sila and pinaka-malakas ‘yung cheers nila ‘yon po yung pinaka nakakapag energize talaga sa amin energize.”

He added, “Kahit siguro sabihin nating sunod sunod yung schedules namin, kahit pagod kami pero nakikita namin na nagche-cheer sila—‘yon po talaga yung fuel namin to move forward and syempre mas galingan pa.”

For Stell, he realized during the tour that as a band, they need to work more towards “evangelizing” their music. He reflects, “Lesson na natutunan namin as an artist, as a performer na masasabi ko po na nandito kami sa peak ngayon kung saan kailangan po namin talagang [pagtrabahuan], i-evangelize kung anong meron kami ngayon kasi masasabi ko na kahit napapagod kami dapat gawin namin hanggat nandito pa kami [...] kaya hanggat kaya namin, gagawin namin.”

The world tour also made Stell realize that despite their success, they still need to improve on a lot of things as a band. Ken echoes Stell’s reflections, saying, “Everyday iniisip po namin sa sarili namin na may mga bagay pa na di pa namin natututunan and every day is a [new] process para sa amin.”

But despite the shortcomings, they are also thankful and proud of how far they have come as a band, especially that they have recently celebrated their 4th year anniversary as SB19.

Overall, SB19 expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their fans. Justin phrased, “Sa lahat po ng sumusuporta sa amin at sumusubaybay, maraming maraming salamat po sa pagsuporta sa amin from Philippines, sa paglabas namin ng ibang bansa and even hanggang sa pagbalik namin dito, nandyan pa rin po kayo.”

All about Nyebe

ON December 12, SB19 released a new single titled “Nyebe,” a song that is a bit different from what they usually release.

Pablo revealed that “Nyebe” was inspired by gospel songs, referencing its uplifting and comforting feeling it conveys.

Pablo shared that he started writing “Nyebe” two years ago, at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. It was the time when he had a realization that everything could just suddenly disappear, melt like the snow.

“During that time, sabi ko sa isang iglap pwedeng maglaho ang lahat,” he laments.

In a way, “Nyebe” according to Pablo, is their way of expressing their love for their friends and families whom they haven’t bonded with lately because of the demands of their music career. In pure metaphor, he said, “Matutunaw po yung niyebe na kahit hindi kami magkakasama.”

SB19 will wrap their world tour with “WYAT Homecoming Concert” at the Araneta Coliseum on December 18.
