CEBU CITY JU­NIOR OLYMPICS CHAM­PI­ONSHIP ON MARCH 23

THE CEBU City Sports Com­mis­sion (CCSC) will be hold­ing the cham­pi­onship of the Cebu City Monthly Ju­nior Olympics (CCMJO) on March 23 at the Cebu City Sports Cen­ter.

The event will gather all of the monthly win­ners since the in­cep­tion of the CCMJO last month.

CCSC ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor Gayle Dico said they are ex­pect­ing about 500 stu­dent ath­letes to take part in what serves as a cul­mi­na­tion of the CCMJO.

The CCMJO is mul­ti­sport­ing event held ev­ery month to as­sess and eval­u­ate the stu­dent ath­letes who are un­der the Schools for Sports, a uni­fied train­ing im­ple­mented by the CCSC in co­or­di­na­tion with the lo­cal govern­ment of Cebu City.

The Schools for Sports pro­gram is cur­rently be­ing im­ple­mented at the Abel­lana Na­tional School and the City Cen­tral School.

CCSC chair­man Ed­ward Hayco said that they are pri­or­i­tiz­ing the medal-rich sports such as ath­let­ics, gym­nas­tics and swim­ming. How­ever, there are also other sports in­cluded such as ar­nis, bad­minton, chess, taek­wondo, vol­ley­ball, dance­s­port, ta­ble ten­nis, sepak takraw, soft­ball, foot­ball, among oth­ers.
