IDOL BOX­ING 4 TONIGHT

TThe fight card which will be held at the Minglanilla sports com­plex, in the south­ern town of Cebu, will fea­ture two young and ex­cit­ing ex­world ti­tle chal­lengers in Melvin “Gringo” Jerusalem and Toto “Mus­co­v­ado” Lan­dero in the main event for 10 rounds in the min­i­mumweight divi­sion.

“There will be some­one who’s go­ing to get knocked out, that’s for sure, and all the three main bouts are very ex­cit­ing, es­pe­cially the main event con­sid­er­ing that both box­ers, Jerusalem and Lan­dero are world ti­tle chal­lengers,” said Vil­lamor.

Yesterday, both Jerusalem and Lan­dero passed the manda­tory weigh-in held at the Star­mall in Tal­isay City, south Cebu.

The 24-year-old Jerusalem, of Manolo For­tich, Bukid­non, tipped the weigh­ing scales at 105.5lbs while the 23-year-old Lan­dero weighed in at 106-lbs.

Jerusalem is a for­mer World Box­ing Coun­cil (WBC) min­i­mumweight chal­lenger while Lan­dero of Pon­teve­dra, Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal, is a two-time world ti­tle chal­lenger.

Jerusalem holds a record of 13 wins, two de­feats, and zero draws with eight knock­outs while Lan­dero sports a record of (10-3-2, 2KOs).

In the co-main event, the un­beaten Es­neth Domingo (10-0-0,6KOs) of Sul­tan Ku­darat and his op­po­nent, Rey­mark Ta­day (9-6-1,4KOs) of Cota­bato City, both weighed in at 110-lbs to sched­ule their 10-rounder bout.

The other co-main event duel fea­tures Ban­tayan Is­land na­tive Chris­tian Bacolod and his op­po­nent Chris­to­val Furog of Sul­tan Ku­darat. Bacolod weighed in at 107lbs while Furog tipped the scales at 109-lbs, re­spec­tively.

Mean­while, the un­der­card bouts fea­ture Joyjoy For­mentera vs. Gri­son Osayao, Danny Vil­la­fuerte Jr. vs. Mark Jun Bato, and Je­muel Asu­ce­nas vs. Ker­vent Aresco. The cur­tain opener will start at 6:00 p.m.
