In keep­ing with its aim to pro­mote the arts all over the coun­try, the Na­tional Com­mis­sion for Cul­ture and the Arts (NCCA) held the Philip­pine In­ter­na­tional Arts Fes­ti­val 2011 in key ar­eas all over Min­danao, one of which was Davao. The three-part pro­gram opened with a col­or­ful and lively per­for­mance from the Ma­gal­lanes El­e­men­tary School Dance Troupe called “Hugyaw sa Min­danao.” PIAF Di­rec­tor Ri­cardo De Un­gria and Davao City mayor Sara Duterte graced the event and ex­pressed their sup­port for the arts through heart­felt mes­sages. The en­tire pro­gram ended with a mu­si­cal and dance per­for­mance in cel­e­bra­tion of the seven arts and a fi­nale num­ber en­ti­tled, “Pain­gay sa Dabaw.” A press con­fer­ence, at­tended by PIAF Arts Am­bas­sador Boy Abunda was also held.
