Profile: “You know those people who don’t know anything about the food business but say, ‘ I want to open a restaurant?’” Chef Bunny Ludo admits, “I was one of those people.” It’s hard to believe that Ludo, who is equally skilled in both the kitchen ( her food offerings consist of various internatio­nal flavors) and the pastry department ( her cakes are well- loved by many Cebuanos), wanted to own a restaurant before she even knew how to properly use a knife.

The few months before she studied at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco were spent doing an unpaid internship, one that wasn’t required of her, but something she took upon herself anyway. It is this sense of initiative, coupled with her want to always become more knowledgea­ble and skillful, that has turned her once obscure dream of becoming a restaurate­ur into a reality, and a very successful one, at that.
