Week-long closure of Araneta-Aurora crossing

-

Expect heavy traffic in portions of Quezon City the next week as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the closure of the intersection of Arenta Avenue and Aurora Boulevard beginning Thursday, 15 August from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

This is to give way for the launching of girders for the ongoing construction of the Skyway Stage 3 project.

Vehicles going through this area are advised to take alternate routes.

Light vehicles from Shaw Boulevard and V. Mapa should drive straight towards Magsaysay Boulevard, then Santol Street, right at Palanza, Landargun or Bayani Road, left at G. Araneta to destination and vice versa;

From Cubao towards Manila area, along Aurora Blvd., right at Guirayan Street, left at Palanza, left at Tomas Arguelles Street or Santol Street to Magsaysay Boulevard to destination;

From N. Domingo and Blumentritt, take F. Roman, H. Lozada Street and J. Ruiz Street; and,

From north: along C-3 Sgt. Rivera, right at Bayani, Landargun and Palanza Street, left at Santol Street, left at Magsaysay Boulevard, and take V. Mapa, Old Sta. Mesa to destination

For trucks from Quezon Avenue and E. Rodriguez Avenue, straight towards España Boulevard, left Lacson Avenue straight towards Nagtahan to destination (vice versa); or

Take Magsaysay Boulevard, right at V. Mapa to Shaw Blvd. to destination and vice versa.

MMDA said an average of 17,000 to 18,000 vehicles will be affected by the closure.

The Skyway Stage 3 project, which is one of the key projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program, will connect Buendia to Balintawak. It is seen to reduce travel time to 15 to 20 minutes from the current two hours.
