Cloud seeding eyed in Bohol anew

- By Daniel Yap Daniel Yap

TAGBILARAN CITY — The El Niño Task Force (ENTF) in the province of Bohol had recommended another round of Cloud Seeding Operations (CSO) and urged the local government units to plant more trees or to revive Republic Act 101761 which is the celebration of Arbor Day.

The ENTF, during the post-assessment meeting at the office of Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry Pamugas, said that there were some municipalities which did not experience rains in the height of the CSO due to the absence of seedable clouds.

Cloud seeding operations ended last 30 July, however, most of the towns that did not experience rains where those areas with no forests, said CSO focal person Leon Parac Jr.

Meanwhile, the towns of Bilar, Balilihan, Catigbian, Corella, and Pilar had experienced rains because there were present clouds that can be seeded. Clouds which can be seeded may easily develop in these towns because of the presence of cold and forested areas.

National Irrigation Association-7 Engr. Evelyn Putong underscored that another round of CSO would help to replenish the water being released from the dams to the service areas for the land preparations.

She expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Government of Bohol for sponsoring the CSO that could really help to elevate the water levels of the dams especially at the Malinao Dam in Pilar.
