Taking tennis fashion outside the court

- By Raye Sanchez

When you talk about sports, you instantly think of the sweatiness and ruggedness such activities entail because of how much bodily movement and physical contact athletes have to do to score a win. Fashion brand Lacoste has broken this stereotype and incorporated style and elegance to the likes of 16-time Tennis Grand Slam champion and current World Number 1 Novak Djokovic and 2016 WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Championships winner Dominika Cibulková.

Sports x Fashion

Last 23 July, the Parisian brand celebrated its modern French style and sporting heritage through a friendly tennis match and a showcase of the brand’s Tennis Remix collection at the Rockwell Club Tennis Court, Power Plant Mall Roof Deck in Makati.

They transformed the Rockwell Club’s Tennis Court into a contemporary urban tennis playground complete with a Tennis Infinity Photobooth and a VR (virtual reality) station for the guests’ enjoyment.

The tennis court became a runway for the highly-anticipated fashion show.

The Lacoste tennis mashup party showcased the iconic modern on court, off the court Roland-Garros collection which pays tribute to the celebrated clay courts and their timeless grace.

The Tennis Remix collection makes for the celebration of the 2019 French Open. It established a tennis-inspired silhouette in sportswear and sports lifestyle pieces — looks that go from sporty to a modern, everyday style associated with stripes and popping colors of red, blue, green, black and white.

Apart from the staggering sportswear/casualwear show, the event also highlighted Crocodile Inside, the brand’s newest campaign film which talks about a different kind of love story — a relationship on the verge of falling apart and the leap back into each other’s arms.

The Tennis Remix collection is available in all local stores and at lacoste.com.ph.
