ECLECTIC DECADENCE
Styling is focused around mixing prints and textures (like croc and corduroy for just the right balance of high shine and soft matte)
Fall 2019 is the season of soft glamour and eclectic decadence. Kate Spade creative director Nicola Glass continues to focus on the new house codes she introduced for Spring and Summer — a refined approach to color, a unique print language and iconic design elements, like the spade — always keeping the brand’s core DNA in mind, while staying true to the brand promise: Optimistic Femininity.
Key elements this season include a 70s-meets-40s mix of fluid silhouettes and fabrics, an explosion of animal prints (because we love leopard, croc, cheetah and snake equally), rich textures, abstract florals, gentle curves and sophisticated colors that escalate from rich to vibrant.
Deep fall colors — warm browns, cinnamons and berry shades — are mixed with fun, bright ones. Lilac is the new neutral and is paired with everything from warm shades of brown to deep evergreen and golden raisin.
Styling is focused around mixing prints and textures (like croc and corduroy for just the right balance of high shine and soft matte), prints that ignite a sense of discovery (florals that feel like animal prints) and polished looks that are punctuated with playful accessories — two bags worn at once, turbans and tights that sparkle.
The Fall 2019 collection hits a number of seasonal trends seen on the global runways, including: 70s-inspired tailoring, purple hues, animal and floral prints, statement coats, separates and two bags, one look.
What to wear now
Check out the brand’s new textures, prints, colors and elevated takes on embellishment. Easy, sensual details are polished and put-together.
Key silhouettes include solid color dresses in dramatic fall shades, scoop-neck mini dresses, 70s-inspired blazers paired with high-waist flares in wool and corduroy, sharp-collar blouses and pinafores designed to be worn with lurex knits and flowy blouses. Broomstick pleating and smocking details lend a soft structure, while asymmetrical draping and ruching add movement to fluid fabrics.
Oversized cardigans and voluminous outerwear (with a light nod to menswear) are effortlessly elegant — including ultra-soft puffers, taffeta trenches, bias-cut coats and capes.
Pick bag and carry on
Kate Spade loves styling two bags together, especially in the same shades with different textures or in two clashing animal prints.
This season, the brand also experiments with scale: A camera bag paired with a duffle, or a crossbody phone bag with a top handle bag.
Candid, the ultimate camera bag, is ideal whether you’re pulling your 35mm or your iPhone out of the front plunge pocket. It features bicolor straps and pop color zips.
Romy, in croc-embossed patent leather, is a mix of pebbled and smooth leather and finished with a solid metal spade heart twist lock. (The mini top handle style is our favorite).
Tate, a sleek, feminine satchel with a curved topline and our signature plunge detail, in ultra-soft buttercalf leather and bicolor leathers.
Farrah is a multi-compartment long shoulder strap bag topped with a chunky heart twistlock, in suede and flocked velvet.
Seasonal updates to the core groups include a Nicola top handle satchel and convertible shoulder bag, in mixed animal prints and textures: leopard-print, leopard hair calf, snake and high-shine, croc-embossed leather.
