Go leads Pasig Malasakit Center launch
Go opened his speech by expressing his desire to increase the salary of public health professionals
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go attended on Monday the launching of the Malasakit Center at the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City, providing better access to cheap and quality healthcare among residents in dire need of government assistance.
The said office is the 41st in the country, 18th in Luzon and the 6th Malasakit Center in Metro Manila.
The event was led by Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino of the Office of Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Congressman Roman Romulo. OPAV was a partner of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President in establishing earlier Malasakit Centers when Go was still with the executive branch. Department of Health (DoH) Secretary Francisco Duque III also attended the event.
Go opened his speech by expressing his desire to increase the salary of public health professionals.
“I will strive to pass the Salary Standardization Law 5 that we all strive for. The President has also mentioned that in his SoNA. We will fight for it,” he said.
Go has noted in many occasions that meager pay is one of the main concerns of public health workers, which is why he vowed to push for the measure to help them serve the Filipino people better whilst providing for their families.
Go recounted how his dream of providing quality healthcare for all Filipinos resulted in the creation of Malasakit Centers nationwide.
Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where all representatives of different government agencies, such as the DoH, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, PhilHealth and Department of Social Welfare and Development are all gathered under one roof.
In these offices, applicants seeking financial assistance for their medical concerns need to fill out one form only and do not have to queue up in different government offices.
