British, American sex offenders yield
Two foreign fugitives will soon be deported after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) fugitive search unit (FSU) arrested them in a back-to-back operation.
BI announced on Monday that a British national wanted in the United Kingdom for pedophilia, and an American sex offender wanted in New York will soon be kicked out of the country.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the UK national identified as 68-year-old William James Neville Ireland is on the wanted list of the UK’s National Crime Agency for engaging in sexual acts with a child at his home in Northern Ireland in 1996.
He was reportedly charged with seven counts of indecent assault of a female and two counts of gross indecency with a child.
He was arrested last Wednesday in Lubao, Pampanga.
On the other hand, the American fugitive identified as 45-year-old Shane Edward Scism was said to be wanted in New York for failure to register as a sex offender.
The Correction Law of the State of New York requires sex offenders to register any change of address, Internet accounts, Internet profiles and status at any residence or educational institution. A warrant for his arrest was issued in the State of New York last 30 July.
Scism was arrested in Marikina City on Friday.
Morente said the fugitives will immediately be deported as their continued stay in the country poses a serious threat to our women and children, and their names placed in the BI blacklist and banned from re-entering the country.
“Both are undesirable aliens who must be expelled from our country without delay,” Morente said.
